Students will lose some or all of their daily points with consistent infractions of the above requirements.

Students will automatically lose all of their daily participations in the following situations:
  • Absent
  • Removed from class

RUNNING/FITNESS = 15%

Most weeks, students will have either a Fitness Day and/or a Run Day. These days focus on improving a students' Health Related Fitness Components.  These run and fitness days will be entered as individual assignments in Synergy.  If a Run or Fitness day is missed, they will have to be made up to earn the credit back.

Missing a Run and/or Fitness Day will also mean that a student loses their daily participation points as well.
Throughout the year, students will be given various written assignments/projects that need to be completed by their due dates.  Most assignments will be posted on Google Classroom. Students are given plenty of time to complete assignments and can always ask for help.

FITNESS ASSESSMENT = 10%

At Cupertino Middle School, we use the Mile Run, Two Mile Run and Bear Fit Challenge to assess a students' improvement over time.  For all 3 assessments, students are responsible for filling out online templates as well as completing analysis and reflection assignments.

Fitness Assessment can be made up on specific days that will be announced in class.

PROPER WORKOUT ATTIRE = 10%

Students are awarded 50 points at the beginning of the semester.  All students are required to change into and out of proper workout attire- shorts, sweats, t shirts, sweatpants, leggings, etc.  Jeans, khaki pants, khaki shorts, etc are not designed or appropriate for working out.  Student may only wear athletic based closed-toed shoes.  Open-toed shoes like Crocs, sandles, sliders are not acceptable in PE.  If a student does not wear their required uniform, they will lose 5 points every dress cut.

Students are given plenty of time before and after class to change in and out of their workout clothes.  It is not recommended that students remain in their sweaty clothes throughout the day due to hygiene reasons- smelly, skin rashes, etc.

All points can be "bought back" by completing a "Buy Back" Assignment.
